About Bob Klunk

Bob Klunk was a child prodigy in art.  As early as grammar school his teachers realized his natural talent & enrolled him in classes at the Art Institute of Chicago.  He continues on with his studies there eventually receiving a Master's Degree.  A born wanderer he set off to New York City in the early 70's in his early 20's.  A mid-western box, Chicago Bob found he was way over his head.  His devotion to desperately wanting to be an artist & corn fed good look looks afforded him many opportunities in the Gotham City. Having to make his own way, he supported himself by working at a gallery on 60th street across from 'Serendipity'.  At the time he went to the new School of Visual Arts.  He apprenticed with artist Russ Elliot & Helped him on murals.

Notably the Irving Hotel in Southampton & the River House in the City.  During this time, a photography teacher at Visual Arts became a mentor, Bill Cahill.  Assisting him at his studio, he was discovered by Zoli Models.  This was not what he was looking for, but it really paid the bills.  He had the first loft on 23rd street, the 10th floor with his own elevator.  After a crazy four years, he moved back to Chicago.

His artistic life took off on his return.  He apprenticed with a women artist, Susan Hunt, who taught him etching & hot to do the art lairs throughout the country.

He began to win numerous awards & being in galleries throughout the country.

At this time, he had a place in both Chicago & Florida.  At his Southern Home, he become known to Club Med.  They hired Bob to do paintings for them at all their locales.

He started doing Murals for the famous people with amazing homes.  He spend many years in Bermuda & Charlevoix, Michigan painting murals.

In Chicago, Bob became acquainted with the Mayor's wife.  He began to create children's programs creating murals with the kids.  This relationship turned into a full time job with the city of Chicago.  Bob became the Artist in Residence at the field museum, creating the monumental etching celebrating the new Museum Campus.

In 2000, the governor honored Bob at a turn of the century gala with the title of Artist for the State, with the creation of his vision of the City of Chicago.  He continued to be affiliated with numerous art centers & show his work all over the United States.
